ACT HUB AFRICA WINS DEMOCRACY MOVES MICROGRANT AWARD
Organizing & holding a virtual conference focused on young people, local governance & federalism. ActHub will also build a digital democratic platform where citizens can express their opinions & concerns.
The main goal of this project is to improve young peoples’ participation in the democratic process at the local government level in Nigeria through the Citizens’ Panel initiative. The project is necessary based of the low level of participation of young people in the rural communities in the governance process. This project will span through the month of March to May ending.
The projects will bring together people around the world to discuss democratic processes, good governance in a virtual conference where democracy expert and enthusiast from Democracy Move will be sharing ideas to stir the interest of young people. The initiative will also deploy an open-sourced system where citizens can submit their development needs which will be made available to policymakers at the local government level. Infographics will be designed in order to simplify budgetary and financial information of local government which will also be made available in local languages so that the citizens can use the information to engage their citizens. The project will produce reports that can be used to engage relevant stakeholders in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
