Act Hub Africa
Based on the research on the effect of child abuse on the academic performance of children in public primary schools conducted Acthub for Sustainable Development Foundation with support from Critical Path Leadership Initiative . The research team paid and advocacy visit to the oyo state universal basic education board to share the results of the research with the policy makers. Deirdre Casey was carried out on the 25th October 2022.The team shared with the oyo state universal basic education board the result of the research bordering around the most perpetrator of child abuse outside of school, how the perpetrators attack their victims; who are children and the instrument they use in attacking these children.Part of the recommendations of the research was for the board to train teachers on how to identify early enough the children suffering from abuse and how it's been affecting their academic performance. We also recommended that parents and guardians should be sensitized on how to take care of their children without abusing them.Other issues that were raised during the advocacy include the state of infrastructure in primary school the insufficient nature of instructional materials and the need to employ more teachers in our public primary schools in oyo state. In their response the director assured the team that they are ready to collaborate with the team to conduct a wider research on the issue of abuse of children in public primary schools in oyo state and that they are ready to work with us on anything that will improve the level of quality education in primary schools. The team was led by OLLA John Oluwafemi and other members of the actor Africa team including staff of critical path leadership initiative. We appreciate the reception and the opportunity to present our findings are outcome to the oyo state universal basic education board.#askquestions #education #primary #oyostate ...
